Yesterday was just one of those days. Every day of life is special, but there are some days that a
re extra special. We officially “cut the ribbon” and opened the Prestonwood Christian Academy Leadership Center. And we celebrated the opening of the Andy and Joan Horner Training Center by packing the room with over three hundred students involved in Student Leadership Institute. I do not think we could have honored PCA grandparents Andy and Joan Horner more appropriately than to invest in students during these opening ceremonies. Mr. and Mrs. Horner were not interested in building a building; they were interested in what was going to happen inside the building. Our Board of Trustees, Prestonwood Baptist Church senior leadership, campaign committee, and key donors were in attendance, and they too were more interested in what was going to be done inside the building.
Prestonwood Baptist Church pastor Jack Graham’s dedicatory words, prayer and gift will be forever treasured. A Lion carving, which was purchased in Israel this summer by Pastor Graham and his wife Deb, is already prominently displayed in the new Welcome Center, located inside the new building. Let there be no doubt to the hundreds of prospective parents and students entering this center every year of our rallying cry; “The righteous are as bold as a lion.” Proverbs 28:1. This scripture was placed on the base of the Lion statue in our Gateway Plaza, a gift from the class of 2006. Prestonwood Christian Academy wants to produce “lions” for the glory of God. Thank you, Pastor and Deb, for this very special gift. And thank you for helping to advance the cause of Kingdom Education.
During the ceremony, we also recognized the Scott Grogan family, and unveiled the Grogan Conference Room. Scott Grogan, a PCA father, died suddenly and tragically two years ago. His family knew that their husband, father and son believed in leadership development, and believed in what Prestonwood Christian Academy was doing in training servant-leaders. Scott Grogan will forever be remembered and recognized in this wonderful facility.
A public covenant was made on this day. A covenant that Prestonwood Christian Academy would forever remain committed to a Biblically-based education. This day was “just one of those days.”
God bless,
Larry
